BONNE TERRE HISTORY

The current home of the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce was built in 1865. Albert Shepard introduced the diamond drill to the St. Joe Lead Mines in 1869. His wife, Mary, built the building as a hotel. It was later moved to Main Street from its original address at 203 E. School Street. It is thought to be the oldest frame building in the city.
